Many who are not familiar with the state of Wyoming might view it as a more rural and rustic state compared the more flashy status of New York or California, but they are just as up to date with the needs of their college students as any other state in the country. The Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Program offers full scholarships to eligible high school students to spend an academic year studying and living in Germany. Although not entirely a college scholarship, it is definitely an opportunity that will only add to one's experience when applying to colleges. In regards to college scholarships for needs based individuals Wyoming offers the Wyoming's Hathaway Memorial Scholarship and the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. The Hathaway Memorial Scholarship is awarded on basis of financial need as well as merit. Applications for this scholarship go directly through their state university or community college.
A recipient can be awarded as much as $3,000 per academic year depending on eligibility status. Another need based program is the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship which is offered by various states throughout the country. This particular needs based program is also awarded on merit, but allows the recipient to attend school wherever they choose.
Wyoming is a state that holds a history of Native American ancestry. They state recognizes this and offers scholarships to the federally recognized Indian tribes of the Arapahos and the Shoshones. There are two scholarship programs aimed at these tribes. They are the Northern Arapaho Tribal Scholarship and the Shoshone Tribal Scholarship.
The Northern Arapaho Tribal Scholarship is based primarily on merit as well as financial need. The Shoshone Tribal Scholarships is awarded up the basis of who is in dire need financially. Both scholarships require proof of membership in their tribes and allow the recipient to attend any state college or university.
